As someone who hasn't had the time on my hands to grind out for a curse, it's kind of nice to have the option to buy one.

The problem isn't just that adding a paid curse is wrong. It's also just another step in a long list of things that increased the scope of the Pirate Emporium. In the beginning, September 2019, the Pirate Emporium only included ship sets, emotes, and pets. - Emporium instruments and weapons were added in November and December 2019 as part of events. Costumes with built-in curses were added in 2020. - 2021 brought Season One, and with it the Plunder Pass. Curse costumes and eventually progressive curse costumes became staples. - The captaincy update in 2022 brought with it crests and eventually trinkets to purchase in the Emporium. At the end of 2022, the King's Ransom Crown was added. This is (I think) the first standalone piece of clothing for sale in the Emporium. - In 2023, the Sawbones Clothing Bundle was added, the first instance of multiple individual pieces of a clothing set being available in the Emporium. - Here in 2024, Rare has added actual curses to the Emporium. You can see that the Emporium has only grown in scope and weight over the years. I don't think it's all bad. But I think it's clear that Rare will keep adding more types of thing to the Emporium if they think they'll get more money than pushback. It's a slippery slope at its worst. Every new type of thing they add to the emporium, means that there will be less earned cosmetics for that type.

It seems like we've gotten to that point and see of thieves career where they need to start breaking the promises they swore never to break in order to get that extra player base and money in. But in doing so they're going to turn their backs on some of their core player base and I don't think they want to do that. But who am I? I'm just a guy who's been playing this game since it came out

Honestly I don't care that some curses are paid for, like why would I? Everything in the game is cosmetics anyways, and yeah ppl will say greed this greed that but all that money pays people to help get more things in the game, Rare is small, very small, VERY, small, and they're hiring more teams or making mor eteams, such needs support, aside fron that I do think that curse should be earned in game, I would like that MORE, but I don't think it matters as much as people believe it does, like I know people say it show's expeience but I always just saw it as another cosmetic

I KIND OF agree with you, but at the same time. Look at the obsidian items. Look at how agitating it is only having certain pieces while the rest is locked behind twitch drops, premium packs, and unlock codes from purchasing other merchandise.

i think the WoW style expansion would be most plausible because of the reaper's outposts, just my thoughts.

Just, to you veteran pirates…please keep in mind that there is more to the game than “instantly attacking with full force, with your mic off, as if it’s a cod team deathmatch, because ‘iTs a PirAte GaMe!!’” I stopped playing 2 weeks in a couple years ago, because literally every encounter went that way. Not to mention the dismay of realizing my goal of cool NAVAL combat, was met by 90% of battles being people just appearing on my ship somehow and spawn camping (I had no idea the rope ladders were such a vulnerability, especially mid-sail ((why can’t I ROLL them up?!? They’re ROPES!)) Ive only recently been trying it out again
